Welcome to Judith Harrison Rag Rug courses Cumbria

I enjoy running day-long courses for people with no experience in rag rug making. Courses usually run from 10am-3pm and are for up to two people. During the day I hope to introduce my clients to the craft of rug making, and the various approaches to it. The day begins with a general discussion of the history of rag rug making, the range of fabrics which can be used and how designs are developed. I then teach my clients the basic proddy and hooky techniques, using a wide range of fabrics so that they can experience the use of different textures.  Clients, if they wish, may begin a small design to take home. Rug frame, prodders, hooky tools and fabric are provided for use during the day, as are comprehensive course notes to take away. Unlike many similar courses, mine are offered on a 'one-to-one' basis. Why share a tutor's time with 4 or 5 others when you can receive personal tuition throughout your course?

Refreshments and lunch are included; special dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice. Please refer to my Rag Rug Making COURSE DIARY  for workshop session dates. I also take clients on days to suit their needs, including weekends. Please see my course diary for availability.

The all-inclusive fee is £50 a day. To secure a booking a non-refundable deposit of £10 is payable.  This may be by cheque or postal order. The balance may then be paid in cash or by cheque on the course day. I regret that I do not accept card payments.

Please phone or email me to arrange a suitable date or to ask for further information.

One Day Course gift vouchers are available at no extra cost.
